Last Christmas

 

Here's the reason the song "Last Christmas" doesn't work.

Last Christmas, the singer gave someone his heart.

 

Then on the very next day, the recipient supposedly turned around and gave the singer's heart to someone else.

​

That makes no sense at all. You can't give someone else's heart away. You can only give your own heart away.

​

If anything, the lyrics SHOULD be "Last Christmas YOU gave me YOUR heart, and the very next day you gave it away" (meaning to someone else).

​

Also, if it was possible for the singer's heart to have somehow magically been given away by the recipient, then the singer himself would no longer even HAVE it to be ABLE to give it to someone special next year.

​

This song is not very well thought out and is, overall, entirely ludicrous.
